2018 Chevrolet Equinox

Chevrolet has unveiled a redesigned 2018 Equinox crossover utility vehicle.  This will be the third generation of Chevy’s second best-selling model, just behind the Silverado truck.  This years’ offering is not the same crossover you know.  It’s smaller and now categorized as a compact.  It rides on the same architecture as the Cruze.

“We’ve got the strongest truck business in the industry and we’ve reinvigorated our car lineup with Volt, Cruze and Malibu,” said Alan Batey, president of Global Chevrolet and GM’s North American operations, in introducing it last week.  “We’re applying the same customer focus to grow our crossover/SUV business, starting with the Chevrolet Equinox.”

The new Equinox will be 400 pounds lighter than the model it replaces and will have some design cues from the passenger car models launched last year.  The interior will add features such as optional denim-style seat fabric, new kneeling rear seats that enable the bottom cushions to tilt forward when the split-folding seat backs are lowered. That provides a flat floor for easier loading of cargo.

“Customers who previewed the vehicle early on had a strong emotional response to the sleek and sophisticated exterior design,” said John Cafaro, executive director of GM Design.  “Those same themes are carried through to the interior, making the space beautifully intuitive.”

Safety features include Teen Driver, an option that enables parents to set controls and review an in-vehicle report card to encourage safer driving habits.  There is also surround vision, forward collision alert and new low-speed forward automatic emergency braking.

Chevy, On Our Side

As a parent, it is nice to know that Chevy is on our side.  Not only by making the vehicles that we will know doubted be driving our kiddos around in, but also by making sure our teens are as safe as possible when they leave the nest to venture down the road.

Chevrolet rolled out its teen driver monitoring feature last year on the 2016 Malibu and now nine additional models will also receive this technology.  This list includes the Bolt, Camaro, Colorado, Cruz, Silverado, Silverado HD, Suburban, Tahoe and Volt.  It’s not helicopter parenting.  It is just simply being in the know.  If my kid was making bad decisions on the road, which she has, I would like to know about it.

The free feature warns teens when they are driving faster than speed rules set by their parents.  It also set limits for speed and radio volume and will mute the audio if the occupants are not wearing seat belts.  Teens are not allowed to disable safety features like lane departure, park assist and blind side zone alerts.  The system will warn teens of potential road dangers and then analyze their performance and give me as a parent a report card.  We will know the exact distance driven, the max speed, if they tailgated anyone or if the automatic braking had to be used.  My daughter is jumping for joy they didn’t have this when she started driving a few years back.

2016 Chevy Colorado: Taking the Road by Storm

It comes as no shock that Chevy produces an array of some of the top trucks on the market. This model year was not different with their currently top rated pick-up truck. Ladies and gentlemen, I am referring to the brand new 2016 Chevy Colorado. It has blown away car critics like Car and Driver who gave 5 out of 5 stars and U.S. News who rated it 8.8 out of 10.

What makes the Colorado so great, though? The Colorado’s standard engine happens to be the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder, with potential for a 2.8 liter 4 cylinder diesel or the 3.6 liter V6. Depending on engine choice the truck can possess horse power anywhere between 181 and 305. This also powers a towing capacity of anywhere between 3500 to 7600 pounds. Generally with such a powerhouse of a truck like this, fuel efficiency is just plain inefficient. Well, with the innovative designers at Chevy that is not an issue. The Colorado can get up to 20 miles per gallon city and 27 miles per gallon highway.

This truck is a power house to say the least. When it comes to power and efficiency, it just so happens to be the best of both worlds. Come on in today and see what other amazing features and capabilities are offered with the brand new 2016 Chevy Colorado.

Come on in for a test drive of this and our other 2016 models at Huffines Chevrolet Lewisville 1400 South Stemmons Fwy Lewisville, TX or give us a call at 972-538-7000 today!
