Chevy, On Our Side

As a parent, it is nice to know that Chevy is on our side.  Not only by making the vehicles that we will know doubted be driving our kiddos around in, but also by making sure our teens are as safe as possible when they leave the nest to venture down the road.

Chevrolet rolled out its teen driver monitoring feature last year on the 2016 Malibu and now nine additional models will also receive this technology.  This list includes the Bolt, Camaro, Colorado, Cruz, Silverado, Silverado HD, Suburban, Tahoe and Volt.  It’s not helicopter parenting.  It is just simply being in the know.  If my kid was making bad decisions on the road, which she has, I would like to know about it.

The free feature warns teens when they are driving faster than speed rules set by their parents.  It also set limits for speed and radio volume and will mute the audio if the occupants are not wearing seat belts.  Teens are not allowed to disable safety features like lane departure, park assist and blind side zone alerts.  The system will warn teens of potential road dangers and then analyze their performance and give me as a parent a report card.  We will know the exact distance driven, the max speed, if they tailgated anyone or if the automatic braking had to be used.  My daughter is jumping for joy they didn’t have this when she started driving a few years back.
